Whether you own a fast-food franchise or an intimate setting with a menu full of your family’s favorite ethnic dishes, designing the perfect restroom will go a long way towards your good reputation. Did you know that many people judge a business based on the cleanliness and layout of their restrooms?  Everything from the lighting to the restroom hand dryer must be carefully considered if you’re going to have a successful enterprise.

Here are just some of the things to consider when designing the perfect restroom for your restaurant.

Mirrors: Not only should they be clean and shiny, but they also need to be big enough for several people to use at once. Some designers suggest that the mirror be the focal point of the entire restroom.

Stalls and urinals: You need to install as many as the law requires, and ensure that they are always in good working order. Don’t make the stalls so small that people can barely fit into them. Make them roomy enough to be comfortable.

Sinks: You’ll have to decide whether to install automatic water dispensers or taps that are operated by hand. Do you want separate sinks, or one large sink along the wall with several taps?

Soap dispensers: There are many different designs and styles of dispensers, and liquid soap is most common. If you are a very small establishment, a store-bought brand may be enough.

Hand Dryers or paper towels: You’ll have to choose whether you want paper towels or electric hand dryers for your restroom. There are pros and cons to both, and it may come down to what your budget allows.

Color and design: You want your restroom to be warm and inviting, even though your customers will not be in there long. Choose neutral colors like green or beige or soft yellow.
