Believe it or not, living in an off-campus apartment can be significantly cheaper than living in a dorm room. The main reason for this is that colleges often add a premium to the cost of their room and board because of the convenience factor. Additionally, they charge a premium for other services as well, such as meal plans.
Parking
This is one benefit that often goes overlooked. It can be difficult, if not downright impossible, to find a convenient parking spot on campus. Plus, you have to have a parking pass to even do so in the first place, which costs you more money. With a student apartment, there is a parking lot right next to the complex that you can use that is for tenant use only. This makes finding a parking spot a snap.
Dedicated Study Areas
Another great benefit to living in Western Washington University’s off-campus housing is that there are dedicated study areas so that you do not have to stay in your apartment and do it. It is an easy and fun way to meet the other people who live in your building.
