Although technically wallpaper because it is made from paper and is a wallcovering in Honolulu HI, anaglypta is not typical. The surface has raised designs but what makes it truly unique is the fact that it can be painted; this makes it different from other wall papers. The product is very often seen in Europe where it is quite popular but more and more homes in the US are starting to use it.

There are two types of wallcovering in Honolulu, HI; that which is pre-pasted and ready to hang and the type which must be pasted. Anaglypta is the second type, it is far too heavy to simply run through a bath of water and expect it to adhere properly, it must be hung using a strong wallpaper paste. Once the anaglypta paper has been hung it dries a sparkling white color and can be left as is but the real idea is to paint over it, it is this ability to take paint that attracts many homeowners.

It normally takes anaglypta wallcovering in Honolulu HI a couple of days to dry thoroughly, once it has completely dried, paint can be applied. The first coat should be a primer and because the anaglypta is a brilliant white, the primer should have a slight tint so any small indentations that are part of the surface will not be missed.

The unique raised designs make it possible to create interesting finishes. Many decorators will first prime the wall cover; then apply a background color which completely covers the surface. Once the core color has dried, wipe over the surface with another color using a sponge slightly dampened with the second color. This treatment highlights the raised components of the embossing. The color choices are at the desire of the decorator. Anaglypta can easily be repainted when it is time to freshen the room, this is often not the case when the room has been wallpapered; the wallpaper must be stripped and new paper applied.

Many decorators like using anaglypta for a faux finish. Because it can be painted in any color it is quite easy to mimic a tin surface for example which was often seen on the ceilings of Victorian era homes. It can also be used to create an impressive wainscot.
