Limited and complete facelifts are similar in a lot of ways. There are a couple of minor differences.
Limited Lift
Limited facelifts mainly affect loose skin in people’s jowls with a minor effect on the neck. Often, liposuction near the neck is done as part of the operation. This type of facelift is extremely common and it is usually called a quick lift or other names. Despite the differences in what most doctors call it, they are all essentially talking about the same operation. It is a good procedure for people showing very minor signs of aging and who are looking for subtle lift. Recovery is fast, about a week, and of the people getting a facelift in Chicago, the limited facelift makes up almost half of all the facelifts done.
Complete Lift
A complete or total lift is an increase over the smaller limited one. A little bit more skin is worked on around the neck and platysmal muscle is often sewn together. It is reasonable to think of a complete facelift as about twice that of a limited facelift. The surgery is twice as long, and the amount of work performed is about double. This is a better procedure when one ages and the process of facial aging (neck and jowl) is more advanced. If you have significant loose skin in the neck, a full facelift is probably necessary.
Rest and Recovery
Most people worry a lot about the pain and inflammation involved with a lift, but it isn’t that bad. There just isn’t really that much swelling or pain. Most people just don’t know a lot about how a lift is done, and what it even really is. It doesn’t any operation over the area of the mouth, and while many other facial procedures can be performed with a facelift, they are not actually part of a lift. The limited facelifts are a great deal faster and less intrusive. Even a total facelift takes only a little longer than a limited one.
