In Chicago one has to obtain a CDL before he or she is allowed to drive vehicles which carry more than 16 passengers including the driver regardless of size, or anyway vehicle that has a gross weight of 26,001 pounds or more. There is a guide book containing all the CDL Instructions Chicago.
The CDL is split into several classes which are the following:
Class A: Combination vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds providing the GVWR of the vehicle is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
Class B: Single vehicle with a GCWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing not over 10000.

For one to meet the level required to be given a CDL he or she must take a computerized exam. This exam will consist of multiple choice questions and single answer questions. Specialized exams may be added if you wish to operate a vehicle with any of the certain fetures. You may also be given a skills and driving exam. The exam is divided into 3 parts.
These are:
A pre-trip exam is conducted to see if the driver knows how to conduct a pre-trip inspection.
A basic control skills exam is conducted to test the driver’s ability to control the vehicle.
A driving exam is used to test a driver’s ability to drive safely in a variety of road situations.
When you apply for driving lessons and you are accented into the class you will be given a hand book to use as guidance during your course. The book will include rules and regulations. It will also include signs and their meanings as well as how to stay safe. Learning to drive can be fun and may turn into a career for some.
