Tips for Removing Tough Stains from of Your Carpet

Getting stains out of your carpet can be a pain. Since you cannot just throw the carpet in the wash like you can clothing you have to rely on other methods. If you are not careful, then this can cause your carpet to get pretty grimy over time. Here are a few tips for cleaning your carpet in Plainfield.

Dab, Don’t Rub

When you spill something on your carpet, the last thing you want to do is rub it in. Unfortunately, this is the first thing most people do when they spill something. The first reaction most people have is to try to wipe it up, but what you should be doing is dabbing it up. By doing it this way you are still allowing the rag to soak up the spill, but you are not rubbing it into the carpet. Rubbing it in is just going to make getting it out even harder.

Use Shaving Cream

This one may seem a bit odd, but shaving cream is great for removing tough stains. To use it as a cleaner just apply it to the stain and let it soak for 30 minutes. Once it has had time to soak you will need to dab it up with a rag, then mix half white vinegar with half water and spray it onto the stain. Let this soak for a few minutes, then dab it up. At this point the stain should be gone, but if it is not then repeat as needed.

Remove Wax with Heat

Candle wax can be obnoxiously difficult to remove at times, but if you use this simple trick, then it is easy to remove. Simply scrape away what you can use a butter knife, then place white paper towels over the remaining wax. Next, put an iron on the paper towels and let it set for no more than 30 seconds. Dab up the melted wax and repeat as needed. This will pull the wax out of the carpet but will take a few applications.
